Discusses the Fascinating Engineering Behind BMW

Andre Chambers is a technology consulting veteran with more than 22 years of working experience. He is currently running multiple entrepreneurial enterprises with more on the way. He has a broad range of expertise and experience in real estate investing, cryptocurrency, electric vehicles, and much more.

As a man of broad business acumen, Andre Chambers also has a wide range of extracurricular interests. He is an avid BBQ chef, loves camping in the outdoors, and has a passion for travel. One passion he likely shares with any red-blooded male is a keen interest in the engineering under the hood of fine automobiles. For Andre, it is the business story and the engineering story behind the world-class automobile manufacturer, BMW.

We asked Andre Chambers what it is about BMW in particular that catches his eye when there are a number of fine automobile makers in the world. Here is some of what he had to say.

The legendary automobile manufacturer got its start in 1916 when a group of innovative engineers joined forces to fulfill a government contract. In this capacity, BMW began as an airplane manufacturer. After the end of World War One, Andre Chambers explains, a ban on the production of aero engines sent the small company for a loop. They needed to retool, and they turned to automobile manufacturing.

The main plant headquarters remained at the same original location, and BMW had to figure out how to produce automobile and motorcycle engines using the same tools and materials that they once made airplane engines from. In 1923, the company turned out its first motorcycle, the R 32. The engine positioning and type they used are still present in BMW motorcycles today.

However, Andre Chambers went on to explain, it is BMW’s cars that it is famous for. Their brand is known for delivering a unique blend of power, performance, and luxury. A Rolls Royce, by contrast, is purely a luxury experience, at least for most of its history that has been the case.

But BMW’s admixture of power and luxury is not as easy to achieve as it might seem. Power and performance usually come at the cost of refinement. With BMW, this is not the case. When you get behind the wheel of a 328i, you sense the refinement and styling that makes it a status symbol. But at the same time, Andre Chambers says, there is not the anemic feeling you get from other high-end luxury cars. A BMW, particularly a 3 Series model, tells them who you are, and it also shows them who you are.

Andre Chambers says, “There’s no getting left in a stylish cloud of dust in one of these. It wins on all fronts.”

Andre Chambers goes on to explain that BMWs have a more efficient fuel injector, a higher than average voltage ignition coil, a highly refined engine thermostat, and one of the most advanced oxygen sensors on the market.

All of these things work together to make the modern BMW a force to be reckoned with on any roadway. Of course, these refinements were not possible in the early 1900s, but it was the innovative strength behind a business model transition that few companies could survive that has found its way into today’s BMW cars.
